The Humanitarian National NGO Forum (HNNF) Lead facilitated five high-level training sessions in Dire Dawa, Bishoftu, Adama, and Jima for selected government ministries, the Refugee Returnee Service, the Authority for Civil Society Organizations’ senior leaders and board members, members of the Parliament’s Standing Committee on Justice, and local CSOs from over 15 organizations, focusing on localization and leadership.
The training aimed to raise awareness on localization, develop a localization strategy for the Ethiopian Localization Lab supported by NEAR, assess the seven localization parameters, and identify actions to improve performance. Additionally, it addressed key leadership bottlenecks within each organization and department, proposing possible solutions moving forward.
I would like to thank the leaders who participated in the workshop and the partners hashtag#DEC, hashtag#ASDEPO, hashtag#ODA, hashtag#PAD, and hashtag#AISDA—for their allocated resources. Rather than relying on traditional PowerPoint presentations, the training sessions utilized a workbook format and facilitator guide.
Participants were encouraged to write down key concepts and take the workbook with them for future reference. This approach also empowered them to cascade the concepts to remaining staff members at their offices.
Let us join hands to make locally led leadership a reality on Ethiopian soil.
